Martin studied business administration and electrical engineering at Darmstadt University of Technology, Germany, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, U.S.A., with a focus on finance, logistics, innovation, and communication technology. He gained first practical experience at Credit Suisse, T-Mobile UK, Porsche, Merrill Lynch, e.on, and DaimlerChrysler. After graduating with a joint masters degree in 2007, he started working in Berlin with the Boston Consulting Group, a management consulting firm. He worked on projects in various industries such as telecommunications, energy, IT, and financial services. In summer 2010, Martin started working on his Ph.D. as researcher at Technische Universität Berlin, Germany, with Professor Hans Georg Gemünden, chair for technology and innovation management. His research interests include project portfolio management, customer involvement, customer co-creation of value, and strategic management. In his free time, Martin is playing the drums, singing in a band and playing soccer.
